After 20 years of breeding purpose bred sporthorses, we have decided on a change in direction which will give us more time with our family and more time to pursue our other interests This will be the last sale held by Craighaven Sporthorses and we will return to where it all started, breeding a few nice horses for our own use.

At Craighaven we don’t measure our success by large numbers of elite performance horses, we measure our success by the, literally hundreds of Craighaven-bred horses that are the pride and joy of their owners. We strive to bred a “nice” horse. The broodmare herd has mainly been dispersed and this sale includes all available youngstock. We consider some of these amongst the best we have bred and include full brothers and sisters to some rising stars. As with any breeding program we have consistently tried to improve the performance level of our horses by adding the blood of known performance lines but have been quick to cull any horses whose temperament has proven them unreliable. A perusal of our web site will show those not familiar with Craighaven horses, our commitment to the sporthorse industry over the last 20 years and that at this sale you can buy with confidence.

All horses will be available for early inspection in the weeks preceding the sale and will be evaluated and described to the best of our judgment. We want buyers to be confident with their purchases and our full after sale service is available to all clients. We would like to add that once an auction was planned that no horses have been offered for sale, and that this will be your last opportunity to buy a Craighaven sporthorse at auction direct from the Stud.

We would also like to take the opportunity give a heartfelt thanks to all of our supporters, clients, staff, friends and extended family that have supported Craighaven Sporthorses over the last 20 years. We have enjoyed meeting the large number of people who share our vision of a New Zealand Sporthorse, and following the journeys of our horses with their new owners whether showjumping, hunting, eventing, dressage or as ponyclub mounts here and around the world.
